Brittney Sanchez
Brittney Sanchez serves as the Director of Advocacy for SOLACE.
A devoted wife and mother of two, Brittney's path to advocacy began after her own traumatic VBAC delivery, an experience marked by a vacuum extraction, hemorrhage, and a long, painful journey through a maternal care system that repeatedly dismissed her concerns. As she sought answers from provider to provider, she encountered gaslighting, silence, and a profound lack of urgency surrounding pelvic floor injuries, ultimately discovering that countless women endure similar suffering without support, education, or proper diagnosis.
During her 2.5 year recovery, Brittney underwent extensive treatments, including scar tissue cauterization, internal injections, dry needling, pelvic floor therapy, and regenerative medicine. Through this process, she became acutely aware of the widespread gaps in maternal care - from inadequate prenatal education on pelvic floor risks, to the absence of delivery-specific aftercare, to the misconception that postpartum ends at six weeks rather than representing a lifelong journey. In online communities, she met women echoing her own fears: “Is this how I'm going to live for the rest of my life?” Their stories, often hidden by shame and silence, strengthened her resolve to ensure no mother feels alone or unheard.
Transforming pain into purpose, Brittney now channels her lived experience into advocacy grounded in hope, persistence, and evidence-based solutions. She works to advance comprehensive maternal health policies, develop clearer recovery pathways for women with birth injuries, promote early diagnosis and intervention, and elevate the importance of both physical and mental health support in postpartum care.
Brittney believes deeply that the health of mothers shapes the stability of families and the well-being of children. By sharing her story openly and using her voice, writing, and public engagement to uplift others, she strives to give every woman the support, knowledge, and care she wishes she had received. For Brittney, there is no greater honor than turning something painful into something purposeful and ensuring that every mother has a chance to heal, recover, and thrive.
